October 5, 2002 through October 2003

Natural History Museum and Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits

From the site...

A major art exhibit of twenty-four monumental bronze sculptures by artist Steve Tobin will go on display at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits beginning October 5, 2002.

Tobin's "Naked Earth" marks the first time that either museum has exhibited art on such a grand scale, and also the first dual exhibition between the sister museums.

The exhibit is an expanded version of the highly successful exhibit of the artist's Earth Bronzes on the grounds at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and Montefiore Park in West Harlem. The exhibits include African Termite Hills, Bone sculptures, Forest Floor pieces and the artist's signature piece, titled Roots.
