While it is written with software developers in mind, this Powerpoint presentation by the authors of The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master, provides a set of guidelines valid for all high-tech workers (or even all workers, in general). The presentation outlines the threat to high-tech workers in the US and how they themselves can provide the best defense of their jobs.
