All our coffee cups are cracked, now

All our coffee cups are cracked, now

Chips mar the edges, top and bottom

How can something so hard and sharp,

feel so comforting and warm?

The Rich,

having no more investment

than a trip to The Mall,

would gladly throw them in the trash

with the breakfast leavings.

But we coddle these partners of our lives

We have seen too many sunrises together,

suffered the small injuries of age

We glue them back together

and savor the memories.
